Comments: |
Acarichthys heckelii has a widespread distribution in equatorial Amazonia. Weidner discusses two types, one of which has a pointed head and was exported in the late 80's from Guyana, the other which is seen more these days has a more rounded head. In Australia there seems to be many fish which display a second or even third lateral spot. It is quite likely that someone is supplying the wholesalers here and have breeders carrying this trait.
